BHA Handicap Ratings

BHA Handicap Ratings UK

Why I love BHA handicap ratings will be explained in this article. I love UK handicap horse racing, the puzzle fascinates me and always has done. I have outlined many times in many other articles I have written that I love class 6 and class 5 AWF – all weather flat handicap races. So how do I unravel one of these types of races, by using the excellent racing post website which is free?  I focus on the BHA handicap rating for each horse in a race which in my opinion is the main driver in my horse form study. I obviously look at other horse forms factors, weight, going and class and many more in a race card.
In theory all horse should be weighted so they finish the crossing the winning line in a straight line. But this is not always the case.

Key To Weight And BHA Ratings My Opinion

When looking at the BHA ratings I cross match the weight a horse is carrying in the race paying close attention to the class of previous ratings and position finished in that race. Use the most recent races first, I look at 5 or 6 past races. Once you practice this it becomes easier, good luck!
