Handicap Horse Racing
Handicap Horse Racing UK
A punters nightmare could replace the title of this article which is handicap horse racing.
Personally, I only bet in UK handicap horse races and I love studying horse form in these types of races. The AWF – All weather flat racing being my favourite and especially in class 6 and class 5 races over a mile or less.
I love the puzzle and the satisfaction of getting it right, which takes practice. I do not like races were horses that are being dropped from a class 4 race to a class 5 race. I am not that keen on a tight handicap as well i.e. where there are several horses in a race showing some sort of form in their last 2 or 3 races with the BHB Official rating – OR being tightly clustered across these horses. The weight and a ground the horse has run on in the past are a big factor in my handicap horse form analysis.
Watch For The Party Being Spoiled
I have seen horses where they have 2 or 3 current races with decent finishing positions whose BHB Official rating – OR has increased by 7 from their last race. They pop in at nice prices. I spotted this trend a while ago and wrote a book about this handicap horse racing pattern.
A Decent Claiming Jockey In Handicap Horse Racing
To me these are golden nuggets, a jockey claiming 5 or 7 pounds of a horse’s back should not be overlooked. These is even more so if they are on the first or second favourite horse in a race.
I hope this article gives you a brief insight into my approach to handicap horse racing.
I have written a number of books on UK handicap horse racing this is my favourite.
