An automated betting bot is not a new subject now but has been around for a number of years. There are plenty of types of automated betting bots available some free and some you must pay for. I am only interested in an automated betting bot for UK and Irish horse racing markets on the Betfair betting exchange.


Now the new trend is AI automated betting bots which in my opinion is just another trend that will ride its course. I am not a big fan of AI – Artificial Intelligence. I have a computer science degree from the 1980’s and we touched on AI then with programming languages like LISP.


I do not even use AI to generate content for my books as I like natural and personal content!


An automated betting bot needs a set of rules to work from. It could be as simple as the following,


If race distance equals 7F place a bet.
I do not think we would have much joy with this.
Let us expand to,
If race distance equals 7F place a bet on the 2nd favourite.
We have narrowed the scope of our selections.
What about,
If race distance equals 7F place a bet on the 2nd favourite
And
Decimal odds is less than 2.0


These are simple conditions that filter our bets.


I am not a fan of the more complicated the automated betting bot the better.
