Horse Racing Analysis Software
Horse Racing Analysis Software UK
Ok let’s us go and explore this fascinating topic or subject. I have a computer background and I gained a mediocre honours degree in computer science. As a freelance computer contractor by trade I have implemented many UK horse racing systems in the last 20 plus years. I like using horse racing software to obtain horse form data quickly. Then as the final part of the puzzle I use a hand crank method (manual method) for analysing UK handicap horse form and this is my preferred horse racing approach. I must confess I have not always adopted this approach in the past, and I will explain this now in detail.
An automated computer horse racing systems act as nursery bed for established plants ready to flourish but the presentation is the winning plants at the flower shows. Now I am not a gardener, but I do like growing plants i.e. vegetables to eat for obvious reasons. So why am I intertwining vegetable growing and UK horse racing systems and horse racing form software?
Well the horse form and horse racing software are the life source to picking potential winners and the water is the life force to growing vegetables and people looking with envy at you at the shows. Rubbish you may think but lets us analyse this further, do you really think a carrot or any other vegetable would grow without water?
Do you really think pin hooking a horse selection from the daily newspaper or using the internet equivalent will work. Well, the answer is quite simple you have more chance of the vegetable growing by letting nature take its course with condensation etc. So to sum it up the basic horse form and horse racing form software is the life blood but you need an excellent horse racing form software tool like RI – Raceform Interactive that will present the UK horse form data that is a representation of the state of a horse’s capability to win a race and I truly mean this. I have spent 2 decades around this subject and it is not a easy one to solve the RI software tool allows you to drill down on the current horse form of a selection in a race and to analyse the data. But where are the key interconnections between this horse form and the visualisation necessary to achieve the task of picking winning horseNow these are my personal opinions in this article and there are plenty of excellent horse racing analysis software out there for sale. My favourite is RI – Raceform Interactive and I have used this great software for many years. The GUI is easy to use but more importantly it just feels right in terms of presentation of the horse form data. RI is a great product, there are a number of great features in the software and I particularly like the data export facility that I use personally. The meta data is fantastic and the data is clean and brilliant to use.
Now I mentioned gardening earlier and the brilliant RI software tool but we now know that RI represents a solid base to build on but the hand cranking i.e. drilling down manually is where the carrots are best presented at the local shows and I will leave it there!
Now the main reason of using horse form software is that it eliminates risk and increases speed of reading UK horse form and it does allow for easy retrieval of horse form data with pinpoint accuracy.
I set the past horse form calibration option in terms of number of previous runs (races) to use when using the software to analyse horse form. What I am saying is that the RI software goes back N number runs to assess a horse’s credentials. Personally I use the bare minimum for value N, but this is up to you.
You can use the software to drill down on speed or BHB figures and RPR figures and many other horse form data. You can simply download the past results data and current horse racing declarations (todays and old racing declarations) and there you have it. It also has a good query tool that is a SQL – Structured Query Language builder with a large number or array of horse form column data for past results and current race declarations.
Processing Large Amounts Of Horse Form Data
In my opinion this is the best part of the tool and I must stress I use it for my own personal use and not in a commercial capacity. However, I do aggregate the horse form data and transform it this is called ETL – Extract Transform and Load into my own bespoke database and this where the magic happens!
As I have stressed, I use the exported data for personal use only as I like to write my own SQL to create data queries that can drill down on the multi facets of horse racing form data. This were most punter let themselves down. They look at horse form data in a simplistic way and the old saying there is more than one way to skin a cat! That is the magic of horse form software you have the power at your fingertips, but this only works if use the software correctly. I think have rabbled on about this too much.
I must confess I do switch between the RI GUI and my own SQL. So why do I like creating SQL queries in my own database, quite simply I can flag horses as potential selections for any race using SQL case and predicates that can be constructed and are very powerful.
I will give you an example of this total runs of a horse <= 20 that’s a basic predicate or condition which means has the horse run in less than 20 races. Now there are so many horse form data (columns) that can be extracted from the RI tool that this article would be 1000’s of pages long.
But I tend to find a hybrid approach makes it more efficient and that’s why you can never eliminate the manual side of horse form analysis. AI and things like chatbots are in my opinion emperor’s new clothes, so do not get me started on this.
I hope you enjoyed this article I have an excellent book, see link below.
