I wrote an article some while ago and I have written a book on outsiders or longshots in UK horse races. Yes, outsiders win horse races at large decimal odds. But do not be fooled look at the mathematically implied probability of these longshot horses winning races. You cannot expect a 20/1 shot to win like a 2/1 in terms of frequency of wins!

3. You own the horse.

I then factor in the weight and class of a race the horse has won in the past and compare it todays race I am interested in having a bet in. The BHB official rating – OR plays a huge part in my selection process comparing past and current values and differentials.
Yes, you must do some work, but these outsiders or longshot horses do pop up at large decimal odds.
