Best Races For Dutching

Best Races For Dutching UK

Does a race were the first and second favourite at decimal odds 2.4 and 3.2 make the best race for dutching due to the high percentage book value? This would give a book value of approximately 72.9%. This value is quite high and personally I would not back two runners in a race for that percentage value. A £100 stake would give you a £37 profit return.
So why am I so adverse to this?

I will explain now.

Now let’s add in the number of runners in the race say 10 and now we have 8 runners against us.

Now we will add in whether the race is a non handicap or a handicap race, remember in handicap races weight a horse carries is a leveller.
Let us not spoil the fun here are the 1st and 2nd favourite being ridden by jockeys who are claiming a weight allowance? So we could have an advantage or disadvantage here which is jockey experience verses horse weight reduction.
But finally, the ground conditions are soft and we have a course were there is a stiff uphill finish to the winning line to add more confusion. Does the course and ground suit the 1st and 2nd favourites?

Now let us return to that question which are the best races for dutching based on the above?

Most punters will use book percentage value as a yard stick for their dutching horse selections and this their right to adopt this approach. My view is purely dutching horses on horse form first and then secondly when you have selections based on your horse form check the book percentage value.
I then check if the book percentage value of my selections is with in my range tolerance. If it is I place my dutching bets on my horse selections and I very rarely venture past a maximum 50% percentage book value.
What have we learned?
